Easy guides for Auckland gardeners
The staff at Auckland Botanic Gardens was looking for a way to share the results of their on-going research to find out which plants grow best in Auckland without the use of pesticides. Snapper Graphics developed a series of simple, easy to use guides that show the ‘top 8’ plants. The guides are set up in categories based on plant uses, plant types and site conditions.
So far, we have created more than 40 guides, covering hundreds of great plants:
Team effort
We worked closely with the Botanic Gardens team of curators and marketing specialists, and found a way to convert the massive amount of data into something simple and easy to understand. The Botanic Gardens team backed this up with a more detailed online database.
The selection of plants has been made in collaboration with Auckland garden centres, making it easy for users to find places to purchase the plants.
All the plants in these guides are STAR PERFORMERS - a qualification assigned after years of rigorous testing. Star Performers are plants that grow well in Auckland conditions, without using pesticides. Snapper Graphics designed the Star Performer label for the Auckland Botanic Gardens in 2007.
